New co-author on the Earthdawn Blog

To zaszczyt!

It finally happened.

After a long process of certificating, proofing and testing his Earthdawn knowledge, I am proud to introduce Sethariel as a co-author to the Earthdawn Blog.

Sethariel
As some of you might know, Sethariel and I already cooperated many times on several blog posts and interviews that were published on his old blog or over here at the Earthdawn Blog.

Sethariel is already contributing to the polish RPG page gry-fabularne.pl and administrates the earthdawn.com.pl community (formerly earthdawn.pl), but nevertheless I am very proud to have him on board over here.

It’s been 6 years now, just me blogging about Earthdawn and RPG stuff in general. So what can you expect from us two now?

We are planning to mainly report about Earthdawn of course, with some general RPG news. Sethariel will cover the Polish community and I will cover the German news, that surely will come up with the release of the German Earthdawn books by Ulisses Spiele.

We both will try to bring you the recent news and developments of the English community and their fan creations, and of course introduce some of our ideas as well.

I think you’ll hear or read from Seth in a few days, making his debut on the Earthdawn Blog.

Quick Blog news #2

Share ButtonI hope the floating social bar on the left will make it easier for you to share articles you like via Twitter, FB or G+. I will test the social bar for a while and then I’ll decide if I keep it or remove it again, depends on usage. So the blog finally provides a better way to spread news, share interesting info or simply +1 some articles on G+. Thoughts and critics on the floating share buttons are welcome.

New download section

2011-07-22_135246

Well I put together a download section to lead you to most of files and documents I reported about on the Earthdawn Blog. Unfortunately I had to remove the “Interviews” section in the header. But the interview category still leads you there. I hope this makes it easier to discover old entries with downloadable content which might be hard to find on the blog.

Guest Bloggers Wanted!!!

This is the third try to start this article. Every previous attempt started with “I am looking for Guest Bloggers!” and I think this would have also been a good start so:

I am looking for Guest Bloggers!

16208

Do you have a project you want to introduce to the Earthdawn community? You want to tell us about your gaming group? Tell a tale of Barsaive you wrote? Talk about an adventure you created or your group played? Want to inform about your webpage or any other Earthdawn related stuff you got in one of your old, dusty drawers since several years now?

Here’s your chance. Contact me, write an article and send it to me. Sounds easy? Almost.

The critical workers of the Great Library of Throal don’t pick every adventurers journal, but every well written or interesting tale will be accepted. So be creative and brave and take part at the guest blogging.

You have time to write your article until May 15th, after that I will start publishing the guest entries.

Quick Blog News

Here are some general Sunday Earthdawn Blog news.

email blogger

- I added the new Blogger widget to the sidebar that enables you to follow the blog via email. So if you prefer emails to be notified about blog updates, test the new feature rather than using the RSS feed subscription.

- The section “What is Earthdawn?” was updated too, because unfortunately the links heading to the great reviews about Earthdawn of RoleplayingPro.com don’t work anymore. Can’t tell what happened to the page.

- A new category was added! Use the new entry “Disciplines” to discover articles with new/old or fan made descriptions of disciplines.

If you discover any links in articles that don’t work anymore leave a comment or notify me via email.

Happy 3rd Birthdawn Blog

It’s now been three years that the Earthdawn Blog exists and I recently realized that I somehow missed to celebrate the second birthday of the blog. So I decided, from now on I‘ll only celebrate the uneven birthdays of the blog Smiley. Looking back  I also realized that from the time on when the blog received its new design, a lot of new visitors were attracted and regularly visit the blog. I thank all the visitors, fans, fans with projects, guest bloggers, RedBrick, friends and horrors that encourage me to blog about Earthdawn.

3rd Birthday

I hope you enjoy/ed the Earthdawn Blog in the following/last years as much as I do/did.

New design of the Earthdawn Blog

Today I started the redesign of the Earthdawn Blog by uploading a new template (duffy) and so I  finally got a new more fantasy-like looking blog. It may be that some sections or links of the blog won’t work properly until I checked and fixed them. I gonna check them all during the next weeks, if you discover any problems or broken links or anything else that doesn’t work properly I’d appreciate your support.
I am very sorry that I had to take off some widgets from the sidebar, for example the followers have to “re-follow” the Earthdawn Blog again (Followers will have some small advantages in auctions etc.).
I also got a small banner now and if you link to my blog on your page please the use THIS small banner.
ED Blog Banner
I hope you like the new look of the blog, new Earthdawn Blog action will come soon. BTW, for all those wondering why the blog wasn’t updated for almost two month now, I just ignored it, but in the background I was still working on some articles which will be published soon. I am from time to time, especially in summer time, not that motivated to work on the blog, but I vow improvement.

Become a Guest Blogger on Earthdawn Blog

Hereby I make the Open Call to become a Guest Blogger on this blog.

I am reading various blogs on the net and several did a so called "Guest Blogging". Readers, Visitors, Authors, Scientists, Fans and many others are invited to write a post or article for the blog. So I decided to make a similar open call for my readers to invite them to write a guest article or do a "Guest Blogging".

What's going on and how can you become a guest blogger?

It's very simple. If you got an idea for a post, an article, a topic for a discussion, a private project, an interview or anything else that should be spread to the Earthdawn community, here's your chance. Write down a short excerpt of your idea and contact me.
Please use as subject for your contact-email: "Guest Blogging" to guarantee a better overview. All the other emails without that subject will be ignored, so make sure you do it right!

Content of the email should be:
- your name
- a short description of your idea
- your blog URL or website URL if available

I can't tell right now how many guests will be approved, this depends on the amount of incoming topics and how they differ from others. I also can't tell whose idea will be approved and why and why others don't. This is the first time I make such a open call for guest bloggers and therefor I want a maximum of 3 or 4 guest bloggers. But be sure that this won't be the last time I make this open call and if you don't make it, please try again next time or I will contact you again when I make an Open Call again.

Please consider also the general rules for your article:
- your article, topic or whatever must be related to Earthdawn. If you don't know what Earthdawn is, first look at "What is Earthdawn?"

- your article has to be written in English, I'll support you in translating it if you think your English isn't good enough.

- one article per head.

- you're not allowed to use any pictures or material you don't own the rights for or at least got the permission to use them.

- all your pictures and texts remain under your copyright and you got the right to tell me to remove them at any time.

So what do you get from all of this "Guest Blogging"? Sorry, but I can't pay you, :-)! The only thing I can provide are back links to your site including a short description, the appreciation of other Earthdawn fans and the immortality of your post.

The Open Call will be closed on 4th July, after that I will contact the chosen and start talking about their idea and the execution of the "Guest Blogging".

I hope the idea of Guest Blogging on the Earthdawn Blog will be a successful story and I hope you'll like the articles.

Happy Birthdawn Blog

One year ago I made the first post, to open up the EARTHDAWN BLOG.

So Happy Birthdawn Blog.

In this one year my first and only blog has changed and grown a lot. I got connected with a lot of people who love and keep on pushing Earhtdawn. A lot if interviews (11) have been made, 60 posts about various topics were published (at least 2 in a month, see September 2008) and several polls, where a lot of you took part, were answered.

I have to admit that I'd love to do more for Earthdawn and especially for the blog, but as always real life is calling.......

But it's been amazing to see from where in the world people had a look at my blog. (I track the page with google analytics, to see who links to the page). So here are some graphics that show, from where people accessed the page. Unfortunately I didn't start google analytics when I opened up the page, so the first three month are missing in the stats.

The big surprise for me is how strong the earthdawn community in Poland is. I never expected that Earthdawn is that well known there. That's why I chose to have a close look at the polish community at my series "Earthdawn World Wide" where the polish part will be published soon.

The most visited post in my blog is so far the post about "Earthdawn Character Generators". I remember that Elidis suggested to pick up the topic of generating character in Earthdawn. It was the best suggestion so far! Thanks again.

So what will come in future on the earthdawn blog. I gonna give you a little insight, what I've planned to do. First I'll finish this post to celecrate the Birthdawn, I hope that next will come the "Earthdawn World Wide Pt. 2 Poland". There are several topics waiting like an interview with Red Brick about the current "hardcover-selling-situation". I'm planning a small report about the RPC 2009 in Cologne, maybe I'll be there, who knows :-). And some smaller works on the blog will be made, for example right now I am working on a new header for the blog, to freshen up the view of the blog. Anything else is too far away to be told right now.

I hope you enjoy this blog and keep on visiting, commenting and voting on it. And with the "words of Lou", I finish this birthday post.
