What? By Whom? When?
The three Earthdawn publishing companies are:
- Red Brick (english)
- Games-In-Vlg. (german)
- Living Room Games (english)
Games-In-Vlg. for example, was allowed to use and publish the Fanpro (former german publisher of the translated FASA books) material. When Red Brick began publishing, they owned the licence to sell the old FASA books, Living Room Games on the other hand, wasn’t allowed to publish the old Earthdawn Stuff from FASA, so they had to make the „Second Edition“.
But today 9 years after FASA closing its doors, we can look back to see what those three companies did, to satisfy us. So I decided to offer you an overview how much books were published in which year and by whom.
What? Confused? So here is an overview about the material, that has been published.

Still confused?
Ah, some Games-in-Vlg. books are marked with *, which means that those books have been made by Games-in, the rest of the books already existed from the Fanpro era, so these books without * are a republication by Games-In.
Altogether Red Brick published 17 „books“ (several are Shards and not comparable with sourcebooks) in 4 years, Games-In-Vlg. „made“ 15 books and finally Living Room Games was able to publish 9 books on their own, after FASA‘s and Fanpro‘s retirement.
I think Earthdawn would be a poorer place, if there weren’t the fans, that are „publishing“ also a
lot of stuff. Connected through forums, webpages and mailinglists, some really impressive books appeared for free on the internet. I put some of those additional Earthdawn books together into an extra sheet.
Year | By fans in English | By fans in German |
2000 | Book of tomorrow 1, Herbs and plants of Barsaive | - |
2001 | Book of tomorrow 2, Codex Arcanus | Kreaturen der Wildniss |

2006 | Book of tomorrow 6 | Foliant des Abenteurers – Die Reise beginnt, Foliant des Abenteurers – In den Schatten Kratas |
Unfortunately is EDPT offline at the moment (yes, I just linked an unavailable page), where most of the English material was provided.
Of course there has been published a lot more material, like the Earthdawn Journal from Sword of the Knight publications (which closed in 1998), but I just wanted to offer an overview since FASA's closing and not a complete product list of everything that has ever been published.
But if you find any faults, feel free to leave a comment and correct me.
Hiya,
Nice summary! A correction: Herbs & Plants of Barsaive was originally published by me (aka DLG, aka James Flowers) in 1994, along with the Earthdawn Downtime System in 1995. There have been several iterations of these products, and even some translations, throughout the years.
Kind regards, James
Hiya!
Yep--however, while you listed the FdA and the two sourcebooks, you forgot to mention Woodland Whispers (fan adventure released in both english and german), Zwielicht (german), Das Vergessene Tal (german), and Ardanyan's Rache (the orriginal fan adventure that was later turned into Ardanyan's Revenge)--all of these also available at ardanyan.de. ;-)
Best,
Dammi
Hm, yes I guess I forgot a lot of fanworks, but especially those should be part of the list. Perhaps I'll try to summarize a nearly complete list of fanworks in the future, but this will take a while.
So far. Thanks for the corrections.
