Just a quick info about the Creatures Challenge Circle Table made by Razan. It provides an overview about the creatures that should challenge the players in specific circles.
Have a look:

Earthdawn 4th Edition is looming! But what changes with the new rules for Earthdawn Character sheets?
So I contacted Morgan Weeks to find out what needs to be changed and he was so kind to sum up the changes that are relevant to update the character sheets to Earthdawn 4th Edition rules. He mentioned for example that Karma checkboxes are no longer needed, you can now use Karma for every Discipline Talent.
All in all there are not too much changes necessary to update a 3rd Edition sheet to 4th Edition. See change log below.
I decided to update one of my favorite Character sheets to 4th Edition, the sheet Ajfel and I already provided on the blog over here.
The new PDF is still fully editable!

Changes:
- New header pic
- New dice table added
- Renamed the spell defense to mystic defense
- Added row for talent page
- Changed wound penalties
- Karma boxes are gone
- Added phys./my. shield to defenses
- Removed the spell sheet
The spell sheet was removed, because the spells will change too and I don’t know yet how the sheet will look like. A German translation of the sheet is already in the making. So, prepare for updates of this article.
By the way your opinions and critics are as always very welcome.

The recently announced Earthdawn Appreciation Day was yesterday and I am a little bit late but nevertheless, here’s my late contribution.
Based on this article at Inkwell ideas I made up an Earthdawn study & research topics table. The table should give Gamemasters a short overview of book titles, the players could see when they have a short look at a bookshelf.

- Creatures
- Habitats of the Griffon near the Tylon mountains
- Ecology of Cave Crabs
- Behavior of the common wolf
- Reproduction behavior of Espagras
- Treatise on salt water fish's near Urupa
- Cities
- Common clothes of Travar
- Boarding rules of Urupa haven
- Violence rates in Throal / Bethabal
- Heraldry of Throal families
- Landscapes
- Old trading routes
- The Hills around Kratas
- A Windsailors thoughts on the Throal mountains
- Storm season of the Tylon mountains
- Trading / Financial / Faith
- A merchants treatise on trading routes (for campsites, state of some routes in southern Barsaive etc.)
- Trading houses of Throal
- Analysis of financial benefits in Travar
- The superiority of Chorollis

This GM screen was made by EvilGeniusPrime and he finally provides it to the fans. There was a discussion on the RedBrick forum about the GM screen and it appears that some like it and some fans see need for improvement. So far Evil did a good job and he has implemented all the tables a GM needs.

UPDATE
The discussion on the RedBrick forum went on and it turns out that two fans were very productive and made, with some advice of arma, two improved/modified versions of the above mentioned Earthdawn 3rd Edition Gamemaster screen.
It is sirserafin’s version that offers a better resolution than the first version of EvilGeniusPrimes’ GM screen. It is plain, without graphics and the tables are well placed for a good overview. With no-frills. He offers his GM screen, that is based on Evil’s first version, in MS Word format. I made a PDF file out of it, with some minor loss of resolution, but I link to both files. So you have the choice.
But the “GM-Screen-Battle” went on and it was Evil’s turn again, to use sirserafin’s plain version (which has just 5MB) and garnish it with some graphics. This good looking modification of the screen file has now 14MB 12MB and needs some more resources. But as I already said you have the choice which fanmade Earthdawn 3rd Edition GM screen fits your needs best.
So here are the links:
- sirserafin’s plain GM screen MS Word file
- sirserafin’s plain GM screen PDF file
- EvilGeniusPrime’s graphic GM screen PDF file

A new player joins your group and he/she never played Earthdawn before. You pass him/her information about Earthdawn, the world, the history, the Namegivers and so on. And of course he/she creates a character.
To encourage the player to reflect the characters history and get a feeling for his character’s attitude I made a questionnaire from several sources that provides Earthdawn specific questions that help to flesh out an Earthdawn character.
Beside those questions that help to build your characters history it is important that you give your character several personality traits. A choice of personality traits is given in the sourcebooks chapter “Character Creation”.
If you have already built your own questionnaire and want to add something, just leave a comment.

Age of Fable (free retro browser rpg) offers 246 random d6 tables. The tables are not system related and can be used for every fantasy Rpg. The free tables are sorted into categories that cover magic, wilderness, creation of characters and many more. At the library of Age of Fable you'll find further useful resources for fantasy Rpg's like a Creature Generator or a Random Map Generator.
