Yes Earthdawn had a lot of miniatures back at the time when Heartbreaker produced them. I think it it were 53 to be exactly! At this article over here were 101 Earthdawn miniatures introduced on the blog.

But now back to the Kickstarter project that was initiated by Impact! Miniatures. FASA granted Impact! Miniatures permission to produce miniatures for Earthdawn. To do so, they acquired the original masters to create new molds and make new miniatures like those from Heartbreaker.

There’s one special thing to keep in mind when backing this project:

Rather than force our backers to take a specific set of miniatures that might have some they desire and some they do not.  The different reward levels give you a number of points to spend on the figurines. You select a reward with the number of points that you desire and then when you complete the pledge manager you will be able to select exactly the miniatures you want and only the miniatures you want to spend your money on

The blog “Fantasy Paper Miniature Models” from Eddnic offers, as you may guess, great free 3D papercraft models for use in RPG’s. His portfolio ranges from Zombies, to Dragons, Mummies, Orcs and many more. The works that especially caught my attention were the “Air, Fire, Water, Earth Elementals” which seem to be very useful for Earthdawn campaigns. We first started playing Earthdawn without figurines. It never occurred to us to use 'actual' minis. We did use counters and white board squiggles and maps. After years of playing, our GM was given a box of Warhammer Orcs for his birthday and he found a love for painting miniatures. He then bought the Descent series of Dungeon Crawl board games and set to painting the minis from them. With all the work that went in, we started using the minis as our tokens for our Earthdawn Campaign.

We upgraded our table to include a hex map and accepted the challenge of finding Earthdawn miniatures so that we had better representations of our characters, particularly because of the size differences between trolls down to humans down to Windlings.

Our GMs wife, with a black belt in Google-Fu, was asked to search the WWW and find representations of our characters.

After days of searching, we came across figures that would be great representations for the races of Barsaive:

• T'Skrang – The Trogolodytes at http://www.otherworld.me.uk/ would make cool T'skrang
• Windlings - The 10mm figures at http://goo.gl/a2GNQ would be great for Windlings.

The only race we have had trouble finding miniatures for entirely is Obsidimen, although Trolls are not the easiest to find either. If anyone has any suggestions, they would be greatly appreciated.

Then a new challenge was presented as RedBrick produced the Cathay Series in Earthdawn. After having played with our Barsaivian minis for about a year, we knew we HAD to get some Cathay Minis BEFORE we started their Campaign. Still not decided on races and disciplines we were all going to play, we did a general search for all Cathay related characters.

This Troll Skyraider is made up of this mini (perfect size for ED Troll). I shaved off the skull in the front of the armor. Added some Warhammer Black Orc horns that came in this set.

This Human Nethermancer is from here. The wings are Manticores wings sewn onto a cloak. Wings from here and the tails are made with Green Stuff found here.

This Windling Elementalist is found here.

In this issue of Tableau Infractus we get to see an interview with Allen Varney, author of the Earthdawn novel “Piercing a Veil”. Also notable is the “Iopan Tales” chapter that completes this issue beside the  Role-Play vs Roll-play and the miniature gallery chapter, the standard contents of every issue.

Additionally to the release of Tableau Infractus #6 Drucifer created two other books in his well known ebook design. The first is called “The Eagles Nest”. It’s a campaign setting written by Stuart Parr that was originally published at the webpage Day Trip to Barsaive. The second pdf is called “Galedon – A Theran City” that was written by Andrew Ragland and originally published at his page.

On the left you see one of the 101 gallery pictures of TheDreadPolack. In my opinion he made the so far best Earthdawn miniatures gallery with full coloration figures. He uploaded his work at Photobucket and was willing to make a short interview with Sethariel, who discovered his gallery and made the interview. Sethariel additionally uploaded a youtube video slideshow, showing the best miniatures of the gallery, which you also find at his page. I can only recommend to dig through Sethariels page to discover more about his Earthdawn Art articles.

By my research, Heartbreaker made 53 Earthdawn miniatures, of which I own 50. The painted ones are on a shelf, the rest are in a shoe box, as a matter of fact :)

I am still missing „0302  Windlings (3)", „0333  Mounted Dwarf Calvaryman", and „0334  Troll Illusionist". I made it a mission to find them all and paint them. I plan to finish this mission, but the last 3 have been pretty hard to find, and I haven't looked recently.

When I am done with my current painting project (soon), I will finish painting my Earthdawn miniatures. I am a lot faster than I used to be, so I don't expect this to take too long.

How and when did you acquire your Earthdawn miniatures? Was it expensive?

I bought my first few miniatures at a game store back in the days before the internet :) Since then, I have gotten the rest online. Various game stores and eBay have been useful. They haven't been very expensive, but I have a few duplicates since I've had to buy them in lots a few times.
