How to check the balance of your dice
The following video shows a trick how to find out if a die is actually balanced or not. Funny thing is that the trick comes from golf, to find out if the golf ball is balanced out.

Great idea by Sebastian Bergne. Almost as great as the D20 mace.
“The simple addition of dice markings to a six sided pencil makes all the difference. Pencil dice is an essential addition to any brief case, pen cup or pencil case. A little something to help you pass the time, entertain the children or even make decisions.”

With this funny video about the “nations of the world” I just wanted to remind you of my former reports about the international Earthdawn community (at least some of them). Enjoy!

An Obsidimen discovery in Witten, Germany!!! OK not a complete Obsidimen. It looks like the citizens of Witten hunted him down and exposed his head in the middle of the town to frighten orc scorchers and other bandits. The last picture tells us that his name was Tinnitus of Anatol born 1931, apprentice of Josef Beuys.
The head was discovered by Dominik author of the German Rollenspiel-Alamanach, thanks again for the permission to use those great pictures. I recommend his page to all my German readers.
But unfortunately my result of the quiz at dicepool.com showed that I am a D4, WHAT A D4??? Well on the other hand I like the description, but a D4…… hell. Watch the result:
You are a d4: You are bright, perceptive, and driven. You would be considered a blessing to mankind, if you didn't insist on using your powers for evil. You are devious, deceitful, doubtful, and downright dangerous. Assassins can learn a lot from you. If your fellow party members knew how rotten you were, they'd go over and join the bad guys. Justified or not, you are meticulous in your ways: A poison for every person, and a dagger for every back. Much of your day is spent scheming or plotting. The rest of your time is spent trying to convince others that you're simply misunderstood.
Find out what Polyhedral die you are.

Inspired by an article at Stargazer’s world I want to pick up his topic talking about GM’s carrying all the RPG stuff to the game sessions.
He points out: “When you are a player, you probably don't need much material to be able to participate in a roleplaying game. You need a pen, some paper and a couple of dice and you're pretty much set. In most cases you don't need any books, miniatures, etc. because the GM provides these things. But when you are a GM you often have whole bookshelves filled with rulebooks, campaign settings, supplement, miniatures and many more thing, you may or may not need in your game.”
In his article Stargazer offers some tips and solutions for gamemasters that don’t host the gaming session at their home.
But I want to tell and show you how I or we solved the problem of a GM to carry all the Earthdawn books to the gaming session. First there was my old backpack that I “modded” over the years.
It “absorbed” almost all the books I possess, need or could’ve needed for our game. Unfortunately it got wasted and I can’t show you how my old backpack looked like. It contained a lot, but was not that eehhhm “Earthdawnish”.
So last year my players presented me a new backpack for my birthday, which is much more “Earthdawnish”. Have a look.
I have to admit that I don’t carry all the books in it anymore. But when we bought the classic sourcebooks, a lot of the old German books became redundant anyway.
Maybe RedBrick will deliver us some similar products in their shops (1,2) to prevent back pains. Finally I hope that you are a lucky GM that is hosting the session and don’t need to carry around all the books n stuff.
A new blog category is opened with this entry. I gonna recommend and give advice of useful RPG resources that you should visit. The links are mostly not Earthdawn related but still useful for your game. If you know further good links that should mentioned please email me, to post them in the next advice.
Name generators
Earthdawn gimmicks
Blogs n Pages
Are you also annoyed when the game is interrupted? Especially when you as a gamemaster are leaving the room? Going to the toilet for inspiration or what ever is the time when players go crazy.
I discovered a nice video at Stargazersworld that every gamemaster should play during a toilet break when he or she is away.
Here's the entertaining music called "GM Hold Music" made by GeekHeretic
Video by Kami-Chan
The Silver Dragon Studios produced some nice D20 Flails. I think this "dice weapon" is a good tool for gamemasters to chastise their players x-(. Nice work, visit their site!
(via BoingBoing)
But thru these dice I remembered that Red Brick had announced a contract with Q-workshop who would produce an "Earthdawn dice set". I discovered a link in the forum of Red Brick where Dammi points out that Q-workshop published a preview of the Earthdawn dice set. I hope the announcement of the new dice will be soon. Can't wait to buy them.
By the way a new "dice roller" is available at EARTHDAWN.COM
To end the year I was looking for a possibility to provide the posts of this year as a PDF to make them available offline. First I just wanted to publish the "interviews" as PDF document. But it was harder than expected to find a way to get it done how I imagined.
So finally here's the result. I used Tabbloid to produce this PDF, it can be easily done, just send them the feed you want to generate a PDF out of. I chose this service of HP because it integrates pictures and links into the generated PDF. What FeedJournal, another newspaper style PDF service, for example doesn't do.
Unfortunately it wasn't possible to choose which articles and how many are included. So the PDF's content is about the articles of July until now. If anyone knows a better way to convert a blogger blog into a PDF document (including links and pictures) please contact me or leave a comment, because this was the first try to do something like that and I am not satisfied with it.
But I hope you enjoy my "half year" PDF summary of the Earthdawn Blog.
Happy New Year
I know, I know this is not the right order of the quizzes. Something went wrong when I numbered it, sorry. But I hope you enjoy it.
A completely new one will follow soon. The old quizzes can be made HERE.
I found a new and better way to built quizzes via mystudiyo.com and so I transformed the old quizzes and made them available again. You can perform the old quizzes over HERE. I hope you like the new look of the quizzes. Enjoy and good luck.
A few days ago I grasped the opportunity to buy earthdawn novels by the sale out "The horrors ate our margins" from Red Brick. As I introduced the new novels "Anaryas Secret" and "The Dark Shadows of Yesterday" some time ago, I decided to buy them via Lulu.com.
So my books were produced as softcover by print on demand. "Sure thing" I thought and you should have seen me jumping around when they finally both arrived.
But.....................
Watch yourself:
The new books. On the left "Dark Shadows of Yesterday" on the right "Anaryas Secret".
On the right "Dark Shadows of Yesterday" and on the left, surprise surprise "Dark Shadows of Yesterday" too.
Hm let's counter-check. On the right "Anaryas Secret" and on the left "Anaryas Secret too.
I have to say that I don't mind at all about that funny mix-up, because I won't sell the books when I read them via ebay or whatever. I was just surprised when I realised that "Anarays Secret" contented "The Dark Shadows of Yesterday" and the other way round. I even didn't contact Lulu.com to tell them about that. I would say I own two unique earthdawn novels!!! Yes.......think positive.....yes.
I guess that this can't happen to you if you buy just one book and don't be deterred to order at Lulu.com, the quality of the books is extraordinary. Its just the way that I had to tell you all what I own now, two mixed-up earthdawn novels and as far as I read them by now they are worth their money.

Note: for all that haven't seen it yet, A NEW QUIZ IS OUT and I hope some of you finally manage to get 10 points at the first try.
