Some time ago the first part of the series “The Lost Treasures of the Codex” was released concerning a place called ‘The Spire of Thaumaturgy’. There you’ll also find an explanation what the ‘Lost Treasures of the Codex’-Series is about. Please keep in mind that the series is based on Earthdawn 3rd Edition rules! And again: you'll find a PDF-file at the bottom of the article.
Well then, the second part of the series presents you a magical item called ‘Sirrien’s Bow of Precision’. The item description comes from Joeri Winkeler and the color images were kindly created and provided by Johannes Bech.
Sirrien's Bow of Precision

Item description
Made primarily out of the same three wood combinations normal Elven Warbows are made from, the pieces of wood themselves create the symbols for True Air and True Fire in Sperethiel. Also in Sperethiel are the runes for Sirrien’s and Sarlindel’s names, inlaid with turquoise near the top.
Rank 1 Cost: 200
Key Knowledge:
The wielder must know that the bow is Named Sirrien's Bow of Precision.
Effect:
Sirrien's Bow of Precision adds +1 Step to the characters Missile Weapons Talent.
The Bow now deals Str +6 Damage.
Rank 2 Cost: 300
Effect:
The bow now deals STR +7 Damage. Range is now 50/250/375.
Rank 3 Cost: 500
Key Knowledge:
The wielder must know that the last person to wield Sirrien's Bow of Precision was the Elven Archer Sarlindel Landurith and that he was the grandson of Sirrien.
Effect:
Sirrien's Bow of Precision adds +2 Steps to the characters Flame Arrow Talent.
The bow now deals STR +8 Damage.
Rank 4 Cost: 800
Key Knowledge:
The wielder must know that both Sarlindel and Sirrien were followers of the Path of Scholars of the elf Wheel of Life.
Deed:
The wielder must become a follower of the Path of Scholars; this can be a problem for non-elfs but is not unheard of. Furthermore the wielder must create a new bowstring out of the hair from a creature slain with the bow with a Legend Point Value of at least 400.
Effect:
Sirrien's Bow of Precision adds +1 Step to the characters Mystic Aim Talent. The Mystic Aim Talent no longer costs strain to use.
Range is now 60/275/425.
Rank 5 Cost: 1300
Key Knowledge:
The wielder must know which types of wood were used in the construction of the bow and where this wood came from.
Deed:
The user must visit all three forests and use the sap of the trees to polish the bow, these forests are: The Liaj Jungle, The Blood Wood and the Thornspike Jungle. After this the wielder must visit Sirrien’s grave in Travar and meditate there for a full day (24hrs), after that the wielder must visit Sarlindel’s grave in Urupa and meditate there for a full day. This deed is worth 1300 Legend points.
Effect:
Sirrien's Bow of Precision adds +3 Steps to the characters Missile Weapons Talent.
The bow now deals STR +9 Damage. Using Flame Arrow no longer costs strain.
